Penalties
Penalty rules for a negative balance — a monthly charge on outstanding debt, levied as a percentage of the amount owed or a fixed rate.
What it is
Penalties are rules that automatically charge a member a fee the moment their account balance meets the conditions you set. They are evaluated monthly and judge the state of the account, not an individual flight.
Conditions are written against the member’s balance and profile — for example the balance at the end of last month, the current balance, the number of consecutive months in the red, membership, age or a member’s custom field. The fee is calculated either as a percentage of the amount owed at the most recent month-end, or as a fixed amount. The rule runs monthly on a chosen day (1st–28th), or later. Each rule charges a member at most once per month; several rules can, however, add up.
Editing a rule creates a new version with an effective date; past versions are preserved.

How to use it
- Create a penalty — define a new rule at
/penalties/new— set the conditions on the balance, the type of fee (percentage of debt / fixed amount) and the day of the month.

- Open a penalty — review or edit an existing rule at
/penalties/[id]; editing creates a new version.

- Calculation method — a percentage of the most recent debt, or a fixed amount.
- Deactivate a rule — an inactive rule stops charging members but stays in the list for historical reasons.
